5 top blog posts in 2020
As we enter a new year, this is a great time to reflect back at what the top blogs posts were for “TEACHER BUDDY HELPS.” Since I have only been blogging for a bit over a year, I decided to just list the 5 Top Blog Posts for 2020 and not try to discuss 10 posts.
5 top blog posts of 2020
- What Your Principal Wants to See During Teaching Observations
- Top 10 Reasons Your Students MUST Answer in Complete Sentences
- 17 Golden Rules of Teaching
- The Instructional Benefits of Long-term Planning! Do You Know What They Are?
- Teachers, What Does Your Principal Look for in the Classroom?
As I look at this list, I can’t help but wonder what does this top 5 tell us? In my opinion, it speaks to the fact that teachers are searching for ways to improve their craft and their skills. They are also searching for support in their decision to become teachers in the first place.
It appears that teachers want a peek into what their principal might be thinking during visits and observations. This fact inspires me because I believe it is a factor that makes my blog unique…that I can offer wisdom as both a prior administrator (principal) and as a prior teacher. WIN-WIN!
The shift and pivot due to the pandemic
Lately, I’ve struggled with what information to provide since there has been such a shift during the Pandemic. But teaching is teaching, so I have tried my best to continue to provide support. I want to commend you in the shift you have taken and the hard work you are putting into what you do…day in and day out…for your students.
Whatever you, PLEASE DON’T GIVE UP YOUR TEACHING CAREER because of this stupid pandemic. This is temporary (albeit, a. L..O..N..G. temporary) and teaching will eventually return to the school building without masks and fear for your safety and that of your students. I see posts on social media from frustrated, discouraged, and exhausted teachers who are thinking about quitting. PLEASE DON’T QUIT!
A Look at my audience
Taking a deeper look into my audience, I notice that most of my readers are new visitors to the site. I have a few that come back numerous times to read what I’ve written, but most are new. Don’t worry, I don’t take it personally. But this also tells me that teachers are coming to my website because they are searching for an answer about something.
Another insight is that, believe it or not, I get fewer visitors on the weekends. Personally, I think that’s a good thing……I’m hoping it means teachers are spending the weekend with family or on personal pursuits and not thinking about school. Before the pandemic I wrote two articles about quick weekend trips for teachers. You can read them through these links:
Inexpensive Weekend Get-Aways for Teachers
More Inexpensive Weekend Get-Aways for Busy Teachers
I’m hoping if you read them it will give you inspiration to plan a trip for when the pandemic ends. It always helps to have something to look forward to.
More Audience Insights
The majority of my audience is from the United States, about 80%. That doesn’t really surprise me because I’m from here too. The age span of my average reader is 18-34…this tells me I’m getting some readers who are college students planning to become teachers. I will need too write some more articles that will interest them too.
One SURPRISE STATISTIC that my website has is…. that my readers are equally divided between men and women. I tend to think most of my readers are women (sorry men, no offense meant), so this was quite a surprise for me.
In Conclusion
So, in conclusion I will continue to write articles of encouragement, some instructional tips as I think of them, and insights from a principal’s viewpoint. I will also add some more travel ideas once we are back to a non-pandemic reality.
Until Next Time,
